Our Aims
What We Do
Children need to feel a sense of security and belonging when they are away from their parents and therefore our main aim is to provide a safe, secure and homely environment for children in our care.
We strive to ensure that children feel happy, relaxed and safe, and encourage them to feel confident.
We pay great attention to the emotional well being of the children in our care. We work hard to ensure that each child feels respected, listened to and well cared for.
Our day is planned to encourage social, emotional and physical development through a wide range of stimulating activities. This will enable children to develop their individual character and give them the opportunity to reach their own personal potential through the ‘Early Years Foundation Stage’ curriculum.
Working with parents is very important here at Mini Moo’s and from the first initial visit we aim to meet the needs of every child and their family. Working together we can compliment your child’s experiences past, present & future. We believe that all children are special and that each child and family is unique.
We aim to treat each person with equal concern, giving freedom of choice whilst offering access to and encouraging participation in every opportunity.
Working with Parents
Your children are precious and we recognise that parents are the first and most important educators of their children. We are Mini Moo’s see ourselves as partners with you in a providing the best possible care and education for your child.
We understand that leave your child for the first time is not always easy. It can be an anxious time for both parent and child and we endeavour to make this transition as smooth as possible for you. We will suggest a settling in programme that will meet the needs of both parent and child.
Your child will be placed with a member of staff who will become their Key Worker. Although all staff will form relationships with the children in our care, the Key Worker will act as a special person for your child and work closely with you and your child to plan and provide feedback.
We arrange regular parents evenings and open days allowing opportunities to discuss your child’s progress and also see what happens during the day-to-day routine of the preschool.
We pride ourselves on our relationships with parents, carers and extended family members and want you to feel happy when you leave your children with us knowing that they are being cared for and nurtured by a team of affectionate and devoted staff.
We also welcome any suggestions you may have regarding any aspects of Preschool as we are always striving to improve ourselves as Practitioners and improve the Environment for your children.
It is always a wonderful experience for the children when parents, carers, grandparents, aunts or uncles etc come into Preschool and talk about Experiences, collections, hobbies, cookie or maybe read a story etc. It might be that we embark on a particular topic that you are knowledgeable about and wish to share that with us.
Equal Opportunities
Our childcare practices reflect life in a multicultural society. At Mini Moo’s we enjoy celebrating personal and family events, such as:
- Birthdays
- Anniversaries
- Festivals like Christmas, Divali, Easter, Chinese New Year and more.
All of our children are treated as individuals and are given the opportunity to take part in all of the activities if they feel comfortable doing so. Our children are listened too and made to feel that they are a valued member of our preschool family.
We always ensure that parents/carers wishes are adhered to with regards to their child participating in celebrations and festivals.
Special Education Needs
Staff at Mini Moo’s preschool acknowledge and value children’s individual needs and differences. We provide an environment in which children are supported to enable them to reach their full potential. EYFS is delivered creatively by practitioners who take into account any special needs that your child has that may need addressing. Children will not be excluded from any activity because of a special need; the responsibility will be on practitioners to deliver it in a manner that meets the needs of all.
We have trained SENCO staff at Mini Moo’s and we aim to work closely with parents and outside agencies if necessary to ensure that every child’s needs are being met.
An individual Education (or play) plan may be formulated for children to ensure that their needs are met, monitored and reviewed. If this is deemed necessary then parents consent will be sort and assessments made in accordance with the SEN code of practice.
If a Child’s needs are more severe, the nursery may apply for a statement of special needs. This is always carried out with the support from Parents and Multi-Agencies such as Speech and Language who we work with regularly.
Learning Journey
All Children have an online observation Learning Journey called ‘Owl Track’ where we evidence significant events and achievements using photographs and statements. This Learning Journey is set up after parental consent is given. Owl track allows parents to view their own child’s observations, development, achievements and Plan’s from the comfort of their own home.
Children also have a scrapbook story in the setting, this allows the children to update their own story. Allowing children to contribute towards their own Learning and development. Children and parents can access these anytime within the setting.
We also use this Scrapbook to record all Long/Group observations carried out.
Parents/carers are encouraged to contribute to their childs records and are asked to include their own photographs of special visits, occasions, holidays or day trips etc.
